The extensive waters of the vaal dam are home to three yacht clubs and two Marina’s . There are many yacht races held from these venues all around the year and are very popular amongst the sailing fraternity. One of the more famous races is the ROUND THE ISLAND YACHT race held at Lake Deneys yacht club – LDYC

Deneysville is a small village type town next to Vaal Dam wall. Situated on the Free State side it is often claimed by residents of Gauteng as their own. Only an hour or so away from Johannesburg Deneysville has many motor bikers that come down for breakfast and to view the motorbikes at the Historic Motor Bike Museum.

Deneysville although only a small village has a police station, library, post office and a supermarket, In addition there are many small spaza type shops with reasonable priced grocery’s.

Deneysville is a popular weekend visit for yacht owners and motor boat owners who wish to sail or motor on the extensive waters of the Vaal Dam. There are three yacht clubs and two Marina’s situated in the town.
